Bussia

The grapes come from the oldest part of the vineyard, which is located at Bussia di Monforte d’Alba. Before harvesting by hand, pruning of the grapevines takes place in the summer, reducing the weight of grapes to 1.2 kg per vine, thus achieving an optimal balance during the ripening phases in autumn.
After the maceration, which lasts until late winter, the wine is racked in regenerated barriques. This maturation phase lasts 24 months, with weekly batonnages until late spring. The wine then gets decanted into larger wood barrels for another 12 months.
During the fourth year, the wine is again racked, but this time into steel tanks. The Barolo Riserva finally concludes its evolution with two years of bottle ageing.

7Tappi´s recommendation

The Barolo does not need to be decanted, but it should be opened 1-2 hours before enjoying it
